I’d like to take a moment to highlight the awesome work my cousin Ryan does shaping surfboards in Santa Barbara. He has made quite a splash (I know, bad pun) in the surf world with his experimental boards. With his company, Point Concept Surfboards, he’s a one man show and does it all himself from the shaping to fiberglass, art and logo design. With another company, Timberline Surfboards, Ryan works with a woodworker to create boards using Paulownia, a fast-growing renewable timber product grown in Asia. While I was in Santa Barbara I had the opportunity to snap a few photos of him at work while adding fiberglass to a board.
